We cook pizzas (including sourdough), meats and fish with wood - seasoned Norfolk ash to be precise.
We do it inside an African clay oven mounted in a converted 1977 Citreon Type H. We are Norfolk born and reared.
All pizza dough is made using the finest ingredients sampled in Napoli and perfected in Norfolk.
The menu will always do best to have one local & seasonal pizza for sale.
As well as pizza the wood fired oven will cook steaks, pulled pork, jerk chicken, venison burgers and variety of fish (sardines a classic).
The van is Norwich based and will travel to wherever people want classic food from a classic van. Pop up in your street, corporate bashes, weddings, fêtes, sports events, festivals, gigs, divorce parties, you name it!
The Wood Kitchen will always travel and serve.
Our van was born in 1977, Haute-Loire Department of France. It was last used as a horsebox before we purchased it, converting it to a mobile wood fired pizza wagon. The van was converted over the winter of 2012/13 in Acle, Norfolk.
George spent the summer of 2012 in Napoli researching and sampling the best flour, tomatoes, mozzarella, cured meats and seafood.
